Between wars last century, architecture reflected the sobriety and frugal financial state of the world. Several fine examples of ‘inter war’ architecture are evident in Bondi and other suburbs around Sydney. Our clients purchased a heritage ‘inter war’ flat building and commissioned our studio to design certain additions to provide easy access, as well as renovating the existing building to celebrate the period style.

We stripped off all the 1980’s add-ons and detailed the building to enhance the heritage narrative, as well as painting the facades soft pink and resting all the copper and timber work on the facades.

A new stair and lift was added to the rear and treated in a contemporary narrative to with glass and copper cladding to visually respond in a positive addition the to composition of the exiting architecture.

We are proud to acknowledge the traditional owners of the land upon which Copper Tone sits; the Birrabirragal clan of the Eora Nation.
