Located on the crest of Bellevue Hill and next door to a previous project we designed over 10 years ago, it was a privilege and opportunity to create a new design narrative that suited the site and our clients love for all things Japanese.

Celebrating the Japanese cultural expression of minimalism, simplicity and placing their buildings in considered and curated environments, we created a simple form that is layered with sliding screens. The home embraces a private courtyard garden which is curated in the traditional Japanese style and carefully considered windows positions offer various views into the garden and framed by delicate screens.

The Wabi-Sabi Zen philosophy is embraced in this design, resulting in a narrative that’s calm and perfect in its imperfection.
